GUSTAFSON LAW FIRM

Police can stop your car for having darkly tinted windows.

That doesn’t give them the right to search your vehicle.  What can give them that right, however is the smell of marijuana coming from your car.  That’s what happened to Eron Jordan in Conway in June.  Now he’s awaiting trial on federal charges.

Arrest

Officers with the Conway Police Department recently arrested a man for trafficking drugs after they initially stopped him for having illegal window tint, according to a police report.

Eron Jordan, 26, of Conway, is charged with trafficking heroin, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of schedule II narcotics, possession of schedule III narcotics, and possession of a firearm by certain persons, a news release states.

His arrest comes after, on May 22, Conway officers saw a car traveling near Bayside Avenue with “noticeably illegal tinted front diver’s window,” a police report states.

Police say they conducted a traffic stop near 9th Avenue and smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

The driver consented to a search of the car, according to the police report, and officers found:

  • $5,762 in cash.
  • 139 pills identified as schedule II narcotics
  • 10 pills identified as schedule III narcotics
  • 7.76 grams of crack cocaine
  • 16.59 grams of heroin
  • 0.25 grams of cocaine
  • Smith and Wesson 9mm
  • 4 cell phones
